Writing Contests

There are alot of writing contests that you can enter or learn about online. Some of these below require a entry fee, but from the looks of it the prizes more then make up for it. Please contact us if you find that any of these contests are no longer valid so we can keep this page updated.

Write a Short Story, Win a Holiday in Greece!

First and second place get to choose between a two week writing seminar in Greece or a one week stay at the Methana Penisular in Greece. Runners up can receive up to a 50% discount on the same writing class in Greece. There is an entry fee of €6 (about $7.50) and the closing date is March 1st, 2010 so you better hurry up! Submissions but be origonal stories up to 3000 words in length.

Scribes Valley Writing Contest

Scribes Valley has an annual short story writing contest of 5000 words or less on any subject. This year’s contest must have received all submissions by July 31st, 2010. The top two or three stories receive a monetary award and the top 20 are published in an annual anthology, check them out!

Classic Literature Essay Contests

The Dusty Shelf runs several essay contests on a regular basis. Winners get to have their stories publisher in their online journal and receive a prize package. This is a very well known literary website so the copetition is sure to be stiff!

Mash for Cash – StoryMash

Story Mash puts on many writing contests all for cold hard cash if you have a winning submission. It is a collaborative website where many different people work on the same story and depending on how popular it becomes you can make money off of it!
